Getting started with Zendera
This article covers signing in, recovering your account, navigating the app, and inviting your team.
Pick your path
Zendera serves three main roles. Start where you fit:
- Dispatcher — coordinate deliveries, manage drivers, and optimize routes. Begin with How the system works, then Order Overview and Tune routes.
- Driver — use the Zendera Driver mobile app to complete deliveries. Download it from Google Play or the App Store , then ask your dispatcher to send you an app invitation.
- Receiver — track your orders using the tracking links you receive by email or SMS.
How to sign in
- Go to https://app.zenderatms.com .
- Enter your email and password.
- Click Sign in.
If your organization uses single sign-on (SSO), use the Sign in with SSO option instead and follow your provider’s prompts.
How to reset a forgotten password
- On the sign-in screen, click Forgot password?
- Enter the email address you use for Zendera and click Send reset link.
- Open the email titled “Reset your Zendera password” and click the link inside. The link is valid for 24 hours.
- Choose a new password — at least 10 characters, including one uppercase letter, one number, and one special character — confirm it, and click Save.
- Sign in with your new password.
If the link has expired, repeat from step 1 — it’s safe to request multiple times.
How to switch the app language
Zendera supports Norwegian Bokmål (nb), English (en), Danish (da), Swedish (sv), and Icelandic (is).
- Open your profile at the bottom-left of the sidebar.
- Under Change language, click the language you want — there’s no dropdown or Save button; the app switches as soon as you pick one.
How to invite a new user
Permission: Admin only.
- Open Administration → Users.
- Click Invite user.
- Enter the person’s email address.
- Choose a role:
- Admin — full access, including settings and user management.
- User — everyday operational access.
- Click Send invitation.
The invited person gets an email with a sign-up link. They set their own password the first time they use it. Invitations don’t expire by default, but you can revoke an outstanding one from the same screen by clicking the row → Revoke invitation.
How to invite a driver to the mobile app
Permission: Admin only.
Drivers don’t sign in to the web app — they use the Zendera Driver mobile app. To onboard one:
- Open Drivers in the left sidebar.
- Either click Add driver to create a new driver record, or open an existing one.
- Click Send app invitation (or scan the QR code shown).
- The driver installs the Zendera Driver app and completes onboarding by tapping the link in the email or scanning the QR code.
Tip: A driver doesn’t need a Zendera user account to use the mobile app. The driver record itself is what links them to dispatch.
How to deactivate a user
Permission: Admin only.
- Open Administration → Users in the left sidebar.
- Find the person in the list.
- Click the row, then Deactivate.
Deactivating preserves their history (who created which order, etc.) but blocks future sign-in. You can reactivate from the same screen.
How to navigate the app
The left sidebar is split into two sections — Daily operations at the top and Administration at the bottom. Each menu item below has a matching article in this guide.
The minimized (icon-only) sidebar
By default the sidebar is minimized and shows just the icons. Going from top to bottom:
| Icon | Name | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Three horizontal lines | Menu toggle | Click to expand the sidebar so each icon shows its label. |
| Plus (+) | Create manual order | Opens the form to create a new order manually. |
| Magnifying glass | Search | Opens the order search. This is the best place to find an order — it queries the database directly and is the quickest way to pull up order information. |
| Map | Order Overview | Live map and driver-timeline Gantt chart. Best for seeing the status of every driver at a glance. |
| Three dots with horizontal lines | Order Control | Opens the order control table — a full table view of orders (covered in its own article). |
| Wrench | Tune routes | Opens the drag-and-drop view where you can override the optimizer’s choices and lock changes onto a specific driver. |
| Pencil and ruler | Draft Orders | Orders we couldn’t auto-match — for example a brand-new location we don’t know yet, or addresses that didn’t match cleanly during import. Fix them here. |
| Box with three dots and horizontal lines | Tasks | Documentation, notes, and inputs that drivers add to orders during their workday. |
| Speech bubble / message | Messages | Group message channels and per-order messages (covered in its own article). |
Daily operations (expanded labels)
The first group is the same set of items shown as icons in the minimized sidebar:
| Sidebar item | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Order Overview | Live timeline + map of today’s deliveries. |
| Order Control | The full list of orders. Search, filter, edit, change status. |
| Tune routes | Manually adjust the auto-generated plan (lock a stop to a driver, move stops). |
| Draft Orders | Orders that came in incomplete (e.g. failed imports) waiting to be finished. |
| Tasks | Internal to-dos linked to orders, drivers, or customers. |
| Messages | Chat with drivers and customers. |
Beyond those, the expanded sidebar reveals the master-data and reporting sections:
| Sidebar item | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Customers | Set up all customers. Mainly used by admins; standard user roles can view but cannot create or edit customers. |
| Locations | All customer locations. This is the main place to spend time keeping data correct so incoming orders are routed properly. |
| Drivers | Create driver records. Important first step — the driver record is what gives the driver access to the Zendera Driver app. |
| Vehicles | Create all vehicles. Critical for optimization: a driver’s work shift needs a vehicle (and therefore a capacity) so the system knows how much space and time it has when routing. |
| Products | Product catalogue. Zendera auto-creates products as orders are imported. Cargo carriers are also products, so add new cargo-carrier types here. |
| Reports | Default and custom-tailored reports. Many customers have bespoke reports with their own filters set up here. |
| Analytics | Analyze routes, drivers, and locations. Beta — currently under development and rolled out to selected clients only. |
| Cargo carriers | Overview of cargo-carrier inputs from drivers — how many they leave at a location and pick up from a location. Keeps accountability and balance of your cargo carriers across the locations you deliver to. Can also be configured to send entries directly back to your ERP or WMS for cargo-carrier accounting (set up in close cooperation with the Zendera team). |
Administration (Admin only)
The Administration section is only visible to users with the admin role.
| Sidebar item | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Users | View and manage internal Zendera users and their roles. |
| Customer Users | Set up external logins for your customers. |
| Settings | Org-wide configuration, custom fields, integrations, API keys. |
| Recurring Orders | Templates that auto-generate orders on a schedule. Only shown if recurring orders is enabled for your organization. |
Your profile is at the bottom-left of the sidebar.
How to find an order quickly
You can find an order in three places:
- Search for order — the search button at the top of the sidebar. Paste a customer reference, internal order number, or location.
- Order Control — open the list and use the search/filter bar at the top.
- Browser address bar — if you know the order ID:
https://app.zenderatms.com/orders/<order_id>.
What’s next
- If you’ll be taking in orders, read Creating orders.
- If you’re a dispatcher, jump to Tune routes.
- If you’re watching live deliveries, see Order Overview.
- If you’re an admin setting things up, start with Settings.
